Photo Robotic Equipment for Virtual 3D Presentations by Improtech Ltd.
Improtech Ltd., based in the Czech Republic, develops and sells photo robotic hardware
optimized to quickly capture high quality shots for use with FSI Viewer virtual 3D presentations. Besides offering a set of standard photo robotic arms, turn tables and lighting
solutions, Improtech Ltd. offers custom made robotic solutions tailored for your photographic requirements.
When we started to produce 3D-photo presentations some years ago, all activities following the taking of photos were quite well automated and had their standards. The actual photography demanding quick and accurate changes in object viewing angles (preferably with user changes to the angle and speed of movement) was quite unexplored.
There were several manufacturers in the world whose products, in addition to their high prices (at least 4 times higher than our current prices), were not always suitable for industrial use and did not offer a satisfactorily robust structure, photographed object size, etc.
Home-made jigs or manual object repositioning into the required angles were then used in practice. The result was a high price for taking the pictures - and a direct impact on the adoption of the 3D technology among the general public.
By deploying robots (which we design and manufacture on our own), we have achieved full automation and the taking of the necessary set of high-quality photos for 3D presentation has become similar to the operation of an office copier - just pressing a single button.
Our original plan - creating a virtual showroom for our e-shop at www.uni-max.com - took 2 years of development of photo robots and their control system. Today, we produce FotoRobots in series, and we have installed most of them for customers in prestigious West-European markets.
Machine types and designs
The mechanical parts of our machines have sturdy design to ensure mechanical robustness and required accuracy.
A robotized turntable is available for taking pictures of smaller objects; larger objects can be photographed on a robotized turning platform, which can be optionally equipped with a EUR pallet holder and other custom-made accessories. Both machines make the object rotate on its vertical axis. A robotized telescopic arm is available for automatic photography from various top-view angles, which can take pictures from the entire upper hemisphere in combination with the turntable or platform (the arm can be installed on any turning machine as an accessory, or it can be moved around the studio when using other machines with a tripod).
The robot ensures smooth start-ups and stops when moving, so it allows taking photos of less stable objects.
As the machines are at standstill while pictures are taken, various exposure modes can be used with no risk of blurred images.
The devices are mobile, so the studio can be rearranged as needed or quickly moved to a customer´s premises.
